After a very detailed analysis about why you smoke and when, we will work out alternative coping strategies you can use at all the different times when you formerly used to smoke. And finally you'll be given advice on how to give yourself the best chance of remaining a non-smoker along with a handout explaining how, from the minute you stop smoking, your body begins the almost miraculous process of healing the damage you've done to it.

Hypnotherapy has a remarkable success rate in this area, and indeed my success rate is close to 100%. In order to keep my success rate as high as it is, I will only accept smokers who really want to quit smoking themselves, and not because concerned relatives or friends have suggested they do so. THE EVIDENCE?
In an article published in New Scientist magazine, it was reported that 'hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking, according to the largest-ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit.'

In a study published in the journal Addictive Behaviors, those who were given a single session of hypnotherapy smoked significantly fewer cigarettes and were significantly more abstinent than a placebo control group and a no-treatment control group, both immediately after the test and at the four-week, 12-week, 24-week and 48-week follow-up sessions the researchers conducted.

In a study conducted at the Scott And White Memorial Hospital in Texas (and reported in The Independent in January 2007), smokers were given eight sessions of hypnotherapy over two months and told to quit smoking one week after beginning the course of treatment. Carbon-monoxide concentration tests were carried out on the patients to see whether they had smoked after treatment, and results showed that by the end of treatment 40% had given up. At a follow-up 12 weeks later, 60% had quit.
