Professional Training

I studied English, Psychology and Linguistics at the University Of Cape Town, South Africa, before gaining a Certificate, Diploma and post-graduate Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis from the London College Of Clinical Hypnosis.

The London College Of Clinical Hypnosis is one of the UK's best-known hypnotherapy colleges and also has branches in The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. It was established in 1984 to provide students with the skills necessary to practise hypnosis safely and ethically. The college provides training to doctors, dentists and nurses, as well as those from other disciplines, and has been accredited by The University Of Greenwich, The Open University and the British Accreditation Council For Independent Further And Higher Education.

I am also a Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner and Certified HypnoBirthing® Fertility Therapist, having been accredited by the HypnoBirthing® Institute in America. I am listed on The Hypnosis For Fertility Register. I have undertaken doula training with the world-renowned French obstetrician Michel Odent (pictured here with me) who introduced the concept of birthing pools in maternity hospitals and who is a pioneer in the natural birth movement. I have also completed the Advanced Training In Fertility Through Hypnosis course with Sjanie Hugo, one of the in-house hypnotherapists at the Zita West Fertility Clinic.

I have also undergone training in Ego State Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation And Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution Focused Therapy and Time Line Therapy.

I am a volunteer therapist for Anxiety UK (formerly the National Phobics' Society), the largest charity in the UK dealing with anxiety disorders, and am able to work with children and vulnerable adults as I've been issued with an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate by the Criminal Records Bureau.

I am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register and have been awarded The General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice by The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council.

I am a member of the British Society Of Clinical Hypnosis, a professional body whose aim is to promote and assure high standards and ethical practice in the profession of hypnotherapy. All members have to adhere to a code of conduct and are bound by strict rules of confidentiality.

I regularly attend clinical supervision and peer supervision sessions where my cases are reviewed by highly experienced fellow hypnotherapists to ensure the best possible level of care for my patients.

I am a member of The James Braid Society, which fosters links between clinical hypnotherapists as well as offering continued professional development in the form of guest lectures. I am also a qualified First Aider.

I have full Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Indemnity Insurance.

I am committed to continually updating my skills and have a special interest in HypnoBirthing®, HypnoFertility®, smoking cessation, weight control, sports performance and phobias.
