Hypnotherapy transformed my life, which is why I'm passionate about sharing it with others. I initially discovered hypnosis when I was looking for a way to lose weight and, having successfully lost 3.5st, I decided to qualify as a clinical hypnotherapist. Six years on, I now have a flourishing practice in Croydon, south London.
Before becoming a hypnotherapist I studied English, Psychology and Linguistics at the University Of Cape Town, South Africa, and worked as a journalist on Cosmopolitan before spending 11 years on Zest, a health and fitness magazine. I'm a keen runner and in 2003 I co-authored Running Made Easy, which became Britain's best-selling beginner's running book and reached number 13 in Amazon's list of the world's best-selling sports books. I'm currently one of two Contributing Editors on Women's Running magazine. My second book, Adore Yourself Slim, which draws on my weight-loss experience, was published in January 2011 by Simon & Schuster.
I am a Certified HypnoBirthing Practitioner and HypnoBirthing Fertility Therapist with the US-based HypnoBirthing® Institute and have trained as a doula (birth companion).
I am registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). The Department of Health recommends that those considering hypnotherapy use the services of a CNHC registered therapist.
I am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register and have been awarded The General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice by The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. Members adhere to a code of conduct and are bound by strict rules of confidentiality.
I am also a member of the British Society Of Clinical Hypnosis, a professional body whose aim is to promote and assure high standards and ethical practice.
I have full Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Indemnity Insurance.
I am able to work with vulnerable adults as I've been issued with an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate by the Criminal Records Bureau.
