I'm Lisa Jackson, a Croydon-based clinical hypnotherapist and HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method™ teacher (affiliated to the HypnoBirthing Institute), who's also trained as a doula (birth companion) with the world-renowned water-birth pioneer Michel Odent.

My HypnoBirthing classes are held in my home in Croydon on weeknights at 7.30pm at weekly intervals in groups of up to three couples (private classes are also available).

HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method group classes in Croydon (maximum of three couples): £295 per couple

HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method private classes (held in Croydon but offering maximum scheduling flexibility): £450 per couple

I also offer a four-hour Refresher Session (£150) for couples who've done a HypnoBirthing course before and would like to revise the hypnosis, massage and breathing techniques. These can be held at the weekend or on a weeknight at my home in Croydon.

I'm passionate about teaching HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method. Since 2006 I've taught over 400 couples and have lectured on HypnoBirthing to midwives at Croydon University Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital, St George's Hospital, Orpington Hospital and St Helier Hospital. I am a member of the Maternity Services Liaison Committee at Croydon University Hospital.

I've been privileged to attend five hospital births (a water birth in a birth centre, a labour-ward birth and three C-sections)and have attended two National Childbirth Trust (NCT) courses.

HypnoBirthing is based on the philosophy that fear during childbirth causes tension, and this can lead to pain. By learning to use self-hypnosis, visualisations, massage and breathing techniques you stay deeply relaxed and so tire less easily during labour. This helps you to give birth in an easier, much more comfortable way and reduces the need for artificial pain relief and unnecessary medical intervention.

It can dramatically reduce the discomfort felt during labour, thereby reducing the need for artificial pain relief and other medical interventions.

It can shorten labour by over three hours.

Your partner will learn how to be an effective and involved birth companion: s/he'll be taught how to hypnotise, massage and coach you in breathing techniques as well as liaise with medical staff.
